THE WINERY

HISTORY

The Ca' Salina Winery was founded by Riccardo Bortolin in the 1970s after the historic Cantina Bortolin was split between the brothers. Ca’ Salina (‘Salt House’), takes its name from the large house that was probably used as a salt store. In 1993 Gregorio Bortolin built his winery inside the hill which sits behind the house and thus he gained full autonomy over every aspect of the production process. Gregorio has always placed great importance on providing a warm welcome to visitors, a sensitivity he built during his time spent studying in the hotel sector as well as on his numerous travels. His vision had its crowning glory in 2011 with the opening of the splendid new tasting rooms.

POSITION

The Ca’ Salina Winery is located in a magnificent position, standing atop a hill in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG area. From its windows you can admire the stunning beauty of the Prosecco Superiore hillsides embroidered with vineyards and the ‘Strada del Vino’ wine road. The estate’s large family villa dominates the surrounding landscape and is an obvious destination for wine lovers visiting the area.

TRADITION AND INNOVATION

Tradition, a passion for the land and an appreciation of simple pleasures. These are the values which have motivated the choices made by Gregorio Bortolin and his wife Neva, and which the couple have passed on to their sons Massimo and Michele. With these values firmly in mind, innovation makes sense, as it contributes to ensuring the quality of Ca' Salina's products.

RESPECT FOR THE TERRITORY

Great foresight and a spirit for innovation perfectly blended with the best in family traditions: the result is an unwavering commitment to protecting the environment and desire to safeguard the untrammelled beauty of the places we care about. This respect for nature runs deep and can be seen in the winery itself, which has been built inside the hillside so as not detract from the beauty of the land.
